Different Laser Cutting Focus,  have you choose the right one?

If you want to get high precision cutting edges, you should have smaller focal spot first. However, focal depth of optical lens determine the size of your focal spots.for a perfect cutting in high precision, we should handle the 3 elements--focal depth, optical lens diameter and materials to be cut.Now you can see how important the position of focal spot and your materials.HANS GS LASER helps you make right choice in dealing with workpieces in various thickness and materials from the following three aspects:

1. Cutting Focus Falls on Surface

This is also known as the zero focal length, usually found in the workpieces cutting like SPC, SPH, SS41. Actually this working mode is up to the practical application of requirements for upper and lower surfaces, because of inequable smoothness of the upper and lower surfaces of the workpiece, generally the facet close to the cutting focus is smooth, and the other is relatively rough.

2. Cutting Focus Falls on Workpieces

Negative focal length is an another name for this mode, since the cutting points are positioned above the material to be cut, not on the surface or inside the material. the reason comes to the thickness of the materials to be cut. The reason why the focus is positioned above the material is mainly because the thicker the material the larger the cutting range will be. Otherwise it is prone to results in the decreasing of cutting temperature caused by insufficient oxygen supplement. However, relatively rough cutting facet is an inevitable disadvantage in this mode, thus it is not suitable for cutting with high precision requirement.

3.Cutting Focus inside Workpieces

When it comes to the cutting of stainless steel or aluminum,we usually choose positive focal length, that is the mode with focal point inside the workpieces.This approach calls for larger amount of cut gas flow and temperature, and it takes more time in the perforation process. It is recommended for you to choose this mode for the workpieces in stainless steel or aluminum.
